Valley Arts Council Advisory Board Members Len Grayeck and Dawn Kraemer recently collaborated on a mixed media art exhibit at the Gilded Lily Gallery, a multi-medium Art Gallery in the Historic section of Milford featuring the works of owner and artist Rosemary Celon-Gordon. Both Len and Dawn created a collaborative piece based on each of their distinct styles, in addition, several of their independent works fill the gallery walls. An opening reception was held on Saturday August 5th & the exhibit runs through August 29th. |

![]() This year's (Tuesday nights') Derby/Shelton fireworks display was once again impressive. The gallery was open for business leading up to, during and after the event; selling water, chips and salt water taffy out front. Inside, the gallery was hopping with activity as customers browsed the art and selection of smalls. We did well with our sales and raised some more money toward our bills and day-today-operation. All in all it was a successful night, capped off with the show and a prime, front row spot. Our latest project... the launch of our monthly art movie night series was alot of fun. Great company, some good eats and some lively discussion made for a nice evening. We screened "The Monuments Men" a fact based story of the WWII platoon charged with tracking down and saving some of the worlds most treasured art masterpieces from the Nazis. A good time was had by all... next is to decide what film to screen for July. Stay tuned, news and dates to follow.
With all of the changes and additions we have been making to the gallery and its day to day operation, we have been active in utilizing our Friday afternoon/evening shift to get much accomplished. Keeping the space clean, neat and organized is important and the ever changing presentation of the art, our collection of smalls, as well as our window displays have become routine again. What was once a stark and very sterile space has been transformed back into a much more fun and inviting storefront. Just as with our online presence, we will be maintaining a professional atmosphere while continuing to have some fun.
Over the past several weeks our site visitors may have noticed several changes and new additions to both our VAC website (www.valleyartscouncil.org) and here on our E Street Gallery site. Our goal with these upgrades is to make the web experience for our followers easier and more informative. We've been busy lately promoting the fantastic artwork, member activity and events that we've lined up for the summer and beyond. Keep an eye out for upcoming exhibitions and events over the next few months through our revamped newsletter "Brush Strokes". Visit our Contact page to join our mailing list and be kept up to date on all that we have planned.
